As archaic as it may sound to the new generation of internet dwellers, that was our reality. However, Google Maps, launched in 2005, transformed the way we navigated the world. It became a solution to our lost wanderings and paved the easy path for world explorers.

The early version of Google Maps was a bit basic compared to today’s version. It was a web mapping service that offered satellite imagery, street maps, and interactive panoramic views of streets (Street View). Google Maps importantly offered route planning for traveling by foot, car, or public transportation. The Maps further supported a search tool for businesses in numerous countries. The simplicity of this tool was its strength, offering simplicity and ease of use.

Comparing the old Google Maps with the current version, it’s clear that the transformation has been immense. Now, it includes features like turn-by-turn navigation, street view, and a much more detailed, interactive map. However, despite these upgrades, some users consider the simplicity of the old Google Maps to be unmatched.
