How to Move Desktop Icons to Another Monitor

Hello there, Tracy from Valadilene.org here! Today, I’ll guide you through a simple process of moving your desktop icons to another monitor. This is a handy solution for those who work with multiple monitors and want to customize their workspace for optimal productivity. Let’s get started!

Step 1: Setup Your Monitors

The first step is to ensure your monitors are connected properly and your computer recognizes them both. Navigate to your display settings and set your monitor arrangement as per your workspace.

Step 2: Identify Your Primary Display

The monitor designated as your main display will usually have all your desktop icons by default. If you wish to change your primary display: right-click the desktop -> Display Settings -> Select the monitor -> Check Make this my main display.

Step 3: Moving the Icons

To move icons, simply click and drag the specific icon you want to move. Place your cursor on the icon, left-click, hold down the mouse button, and drag the icon to the other screen. Release the mouse button when you have the icon where you want on the other screen.

Batch Moving

If you want to move several icons at once: click and drag on a blank part of the desktop to create a selection box. Highlight the icons you want to move, then again left-click, hold and drag to the other screen.

Following these simple steps will allow you to easily move desktop icons between monitors.

And that’s it! If you have any more questions on how to move desktop icons to another monitor, don’t hesitate to reach out to me at tracy@valadilene.org.
