How to Hide Active Status on Instagram

This article focuses on the easy-to-follow steps to help you browse Instagram without revealing your active status to your followers and friends. I am Tracy, your tech guide and my mission with Valadilene.org is to make this process less intimidating and more approachable for everyone.

Step One: Open Instagram

Begin by launching the Instagram app on your smartphone. Make sure you are logged in to your account before proceeding to the next steps.

Step Two: Go to settings

To access your Instagram settings, tap on the profile icon on the right bottom side of your screen. Once in your profile, click on the three horizontal lines (menu) on the top right corner, then tap on settings (located at the bottom).

Step Three: Accessing “Privacy and Security

Upon clicking Settings, scroll down to find “Privacy and Security. Click on this option.

Step Four: Select “Activity Status”

Once you’re in the “Privacy and Security settings, scroll down to find the Activity Status option. Tap on it to proceed to the next step.

Step Five: Toggle Off Show Activity Status

Finally, look for the “Show Activity Status” toggle button. If the switch is to the right and appearing green, this means your Active Status is visible to others. To hide your active status, tap the switch and move it to the left. Your switch should now appear grey, indicating that your activity status is hidden.

With these simple steps, you can enjoy a private Instagram experience without revealing your active status.
