How to Reset Your iPhone Without Losing Everything
Hello, I’m Tracy, and today I’ll guide you on how to reset your iPhone without losing everything. It’s generally a good idea to periodically reset your iPhone to improve its performance, and you certainly don’t want to lose all of your data in the process. Luckily, Apple has designed a way to do that easily. Let’s get started.
Step 1: Back Up Your Data
Before doing anything else, you must back up your data. Apple provides two principal ways of doing this: through iCloud or iTunes.
iCloud Backup
Go to Settings > [your name] > iCloud. Make sure iCloud Backup is on, then tap ‘Back Up Now’.
iTunes Backup
Connect your iPhone to your computer, then open iTunes. You’ll see the icon of your iPhone. Click on it, select ‘Back Up Now’ and the process will start.
Step 2: Reset Your iPhone
Once you’re sure your data is safely backed up, you can proceed to reset your iPhone. Simply navigate to Settings > General > Reset. Tap ‘Erase All Content and Settings’.
Your phone will probably ask you for your passcode. Enter it and confirm your decision to reset the phone.
Step 3: Restore Your Data
After your iPhone has been reset and restarted, you can restore your data from the backup you made earlier.
iCloud Restore
In the setup screen, follow the directions until you get to the ‘Apps & Data’ screen. Choose ‘Restore from iCloud Backup’. Sign in to iCloud and choose the backup that you made earlier.
iTunes Restore
Connect your iPhone to your computer and open iTunes. Click on the iPhone icon, select ‘Restore Backup’. Choose the backup that you made earlier and click ‘Restore’.
And that’s it! You’ve successfully reset your iPhone without losing everything. If you have any issues following these steps, don’t hesitate to reach out to me at tracy@valadilene.org.
