How to Export Sticky Notes on Windows 10

Hello! I’m Tracy, your guide today in learning about the process to export Sticky Notes on Windows 10. This tool is extremely useful, but many users are unfamiliar with how to transfer them to another device or back them up.

What Are Sticky Notes

Sticky Notes, preinstalled on all editions of Windows 10, provides a convenient method to jot down reminders, to-do lists, or any other quick notes. It has become an essential productivity tool for Windows users who appreciate the simplicity of its design and the convenience it affords.

Exporting Sticky Notes

While Sticky Notes is superb for making quick notes, it lacks an inherent feature to export or back up these notes. But don’t fret; there is a workaround for this issue. You can manually export your Sticky Notes data by following the steps below.

Steps to Export Sticky Notes

  1. Press Win + R to open the Run dialog box.
  2. Type ‘%AppData%\\Microsoft\\Sticky Notes\\’ and press Enter.
  3. Find the ‘StickyNotes.snt’ or ‘plum.sqlite’ file in the opened folder.
  4. Copy this file and paste it in a secure location, preferably an external storage device.

That’s all there is to it! Your Sticky Notes are now backed up and ready to be restored when needed.

Restoring Sticky Notes

To restore your Sticky Notes, simply reverse the above process:

  1. Go to the folder where you stored the ‘StickyNotes.snt’ or ‘plum.sqlite’ file.
  2. Copy the file and paste it back into the ‘%AppData%\\Microsoft\\Sticky Notes\\’ folder.
